Sandra

Sandra moved from NH to NJ in the mid-80s to work for AT&T and attend Rutgers University. For fun, she hikes, bikes and occasionally climbs with her friends from the Appalachian Mountain Club.

Mike

Mike moved from Butler Pa to NJ to work for IBM (the only reason he'd move to NJ). After being bought and sold 3 times he now works for Lockheed Martin. He made a point of leaving NJ every weekend on motorcycle rides until he met Sandra.

In the early spring of 2002 Sandra and Mike met at a party thrown by Dave McElvain. By the end of that summer, Sandra had been the chase wagon on a few of the motorcycle trips. Mike started to spend every weekend thereafter up in Hunterdon County. By the end of the fall, Sandra had passed her motorcycle training course and bought her first motorcycle, a 1982 Suzuki GS 650. There was hope for Mike that this might just work out. The summer of 2003 brought motorcycle trips to NY, PA, NH, NC and even as far as Canada! I guess that was the clincher, he knew this one was a keeper.

Being the romantic I am, I was planning on proposing along side a lake. But on the way there Sandra, who was driving, got lost (ok, so she didn't get lost, she was "exploring") and we never made it. So since I was getting tired of carrying the ring around for the past several weekends I proposed that night in the living room of her condo.

So, Mike proposed on the 21st day of September. He claims it was a complete coincidence, but perhaps the inspiration did come from Earth Wind and Fire's song after all. Of course if you ask him what the real reason is, he'll tell you it's because she's a frugal Scottish Lass.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a lot of friends I rarely get to see outside of a wedding. Because of that, the last thing I want to do at a reception is sit down at a table and have a meal. I'd rather walk around noshing, drinking and talking to long lost friends.

Since this is our wedding and we're calling the shots we've decided to forego the sit down meal. Instead we're going to have plenty of finger foods, Italian delicacies, fine cheeses, some of our favorite wines and micro brew beers. In other words, nothing that requires you to sit down and use a fork and a knife. We want everybody to have a good time and catch up with their friends because that's what we're planning on doing.

The lodge we're having the reception at will have tables and chairs for those that insist on sitting. But the real attraction will be the very wide and deep covered porch with rocking chairs. Barring severe weather I'm guessing that most people will be on that porch enjoying the view and the camaraderie.

There's a large parking lot across the street from the lodge, please use that lot and reserve the much smaller lot next to the lodge for the wedding party and our parents. Thank you.

Friends and family of the couple will be staying at Holiday Inn Select in beautiful downtown Clinton, NJ. A block of rooms will be set aside for us. I imagine I (mike) will be staying there Friday night and we will be staying there Saturday night.

We told the hotel that we'd need 5 rooms for Friday night and 20 rooms for Saturday night. Our special price is $80 (a $50 discount, north Jersey is on the expensive side). If we need more rooms for Friday I'm sure they'd have no problem letting us have more for the same price. If you want a room call in before April 1st and reserve one for yourself.
